Your textbook in Analytical Chemistry is a helpful reading.

Course Description:

  1. Exams and Quizzes:

Midterm quiz (2): 10 problems to be solved as a take home quiz.
Final: The final exam/report will be prepared in a form of PowerPoint presentation based on material from your research project. This report need to be prepared by mid-April
Homework(2) Literature searches will be assigned and collected, mostly for time-consuming experiments or techniques we cannot study experimentally at Buffalo State.

  1. Laboratory

Experiments (2-3) will be performed to improve your knowledge of various techniques used in Analytical Toxicology. The particular experiments to be done and the schedule will be given by the instructor in the laboratory. Laboratory notebooks (2%) are required. Reports should be in a format similar to that used CHE403 course. Please turn in reports as soon as possible after completing an experiment. You may find deadlines for lab reports in the laboratory schedule page.
Research project is the main part of the class. You will work on it as a part of a small group (or even alone, if you prefer) for 4-7 weeks using various analytical techniques.

  1. Grading

The lecture part of the grade will be computed based on 5% for the each mid-term quiz,  5 % for each homework, 5% for each lab, and 60% for the final project plus 5-10% for the presentation of that project.

Grading scale    A:85%  B: 75% C:65% D: 55%
