Course Syllabus

Course Description:

  1. Exams and Quizzes:
  2. Midterms:  10 problems to be solved in 1 hour .
    Final:  The final exam will be cumulative based on material from the entire course.
    Homework:  This will be assigned and collected via BlackBoard (!), mostly for time-consuming problems.
    Quizes:  There will be a number of short quizes ( one-two "simple" questions five-ten minutes prior to the end of lecture or before the lab starts). Quiz dates will not be announced in advance.
  3. Laboratory
  4. Expeiments are described in the CHE111 Laboratory Manual. 30% of total grade is coming from the lab.
  5. Grading
  6. The lecture part of the grade will be computed based on 10% for the each of three mid-term exams, 20 % for all graded homework assignments, and 20% for the final exam.
        The final exam will be cumulative, based on material from the entire semester.

    The course grade will be determined by addition of lab and lecture points (100% total).

    Grading scale    A:85%  B: 75% C:65% D: 55%
