Course Schedule

Course Description:

Exams and Quizzes:
Midterms:  20 problems to be solved in1 hour.
Final:  The final exam will be cumulative based on material from the entire course.
Homework:  This will be assigned and collected, mostly for time-consuming problems.
Quizes:  There will be a number of short quizes (no more than five simple questions ten minutes prior to the end of  lecture). Quiz dates will not be announced in advance.
The lowest exam grade will be dropped. Since the lowest grade of each student will be dropped, there will be no makeup exams. The same pattern will be used for quizes, laboratory, and homework.
The final exam will be cumulative, based on material from the entire semester. The final exam is mandatory for all students.
      Grading
The grade will be computed based on 30% for the mid-term exams, 10% for quizes, 15% for homework, 30% for laboratory,  and 15% for the final exam.  I will strictly adhere to the following grades:
          A: 85%  B: 75% C:65% D: 55%
Please feel free to contact me by e-mail if you have a question or want to set up an appointment. I will answer all e-mails promptly.
Laboratory  Experiments are described in the Che112 Laboratory Manual. The particular experiments  to be done and the schedule will be given by the instructor in the laboratory. Laboratory notebooks are required. Please turn in reports as soon as possible after completing an experiment. The firm deadline of submitting the report is the next lab period. Each lab is equivalent of 3 points. There some labs with extra credit available.
